The Town of Ault was a boom town in the early 1890's, the Town of Ault today is a prosperous, attractive community of approximately 1500 people. The Rocky Mountains provide a majestic natural backdrop. The Town of Ault is located on the edge of the Great Plains in Weld County, the richest agricultural county east of the Rockies. And with major rail and highway access, the Town of Ault has the ability to transport its products to the rest of the nation. Major highways serving the Town of Ault are Hwy 14 running east and west and Hwy 85 running north and south. I-25 is 15 minutes west of the Town of Ault providing convenient access to two major east and west highways. I-80 north of Ault and I-70 south of Ault. All these major throughways intersect within 60 miles of the Town of Ault. Ault is served by the main line of the Union Pacific Railroad for Greeley Depot ten miles south.
The Town of Ault is a statutory town, governed by an elected six member council and mayor. Ault maintains its own police department and water distribution system. The town is part of the Ault-Pierce Fire District.
Weld County School District RE9 serves the towns of Ault,Pierce, and Nunn with the High School and Middle School in Ault, and the Elementary School 5 miles north in the Town of Pierce. Aims Community College in Greeley provides a 2 year curriculum, offering associate degrees in Applied Sciences and Liberal Arts. The University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and Colorado State University in Fort Collins offer a wide variety of undergraduate degrees as well as both master and doctoral programs.
The Ault Clinic and a dentist provide Ault with immediate health care. In addition Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley provides complete medical and health care facilities. Ambulance Service is provided by Weld County.
The Office of the Town Clerk maintains current files on all minutes, ordinances, resolutions, and agreements for the Town Board and Administration. Other services provided by the Town Clerk’s office include the issuance of licenses, municipal elections, preparation of the Board agendas, Building Permits and Utility Billing. The Town Clerk is also responsible for the operation of the Office of the Town Hall, which provides a variety of other services to the residents of the Town of Ault. The Town Clerk is also the Treasurer and is responsible for the annual budget and maintains all financial records.
