Ault Municipal Court is a court of record.
Court is held once a month, every second Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. During court proceedings, entry is made through the east door of the Ault Police Department, 201 First Street.
If you have an Ault Municipal Court traffic ticket and the penalty assessment portion on the front of your ticket has been filled out, you may plead GUILTY and pay the ticket before your court date. Some tickets have “early settlement” offers. To take advantage of the early settlement (which may include a point reduction), you must pay the ticket within 20 days of the date you received the ticket. If you miss the early settlement option, you may still pay the ticket before the court date without the addition of the $20.00 Court Cost; however, the original points will be assessed against your driving record.
If the penalty assessment portion or early settlement is not filled out (for example, in most motor vehicle accident cases), payment before your court date is not an option because your appearance for arraignment is mandatory.
Municipal Court misdemeanor tickets are mandatory appearances. You must appear on the arraignment date listed on your ticket. To find out additional information, please call the Court Clerk’s Office.
The Ault Municipal Court can take payments with credit card through our online services website at: https://myaultgov.org/courts/search. You will need your citation number (five digit code in the upper right hand corner), and your four digit year of birth - not your birthday - to search for your citation. It can take up to 7 business days for your citation to appear in our online system, so please wait to search for it until it has been one week since the date of violation. You can find the date of violation directly under the citation number, in the upper right hand corner of the citation.
Municipal Court is held the second Tuesday of every month for arraignments, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
The defendant will need to sign in at the front north window. The defendant will be asked if they would accept a plea bargain / recommendation prepared by the Town Attorney, and also asked to read and sign a copy of the Advisement of Rights. If the defendant is a juvenile, a parent or legal guardian will need to be present, and will also be asked to sign the Waiver and Guilty Plea and the Advisement of Rights.
If you do wish to accept the Prosecution's recommendations, this may be done at 12:30 p.m. and you will not need to appear in court.
Ault Municipal Court is located within Ault Town Hall, 201 1st Street, Ault, Colorado, 80610. You may enter through the east door of the Ault Police Department. There may, from time to time, be a line out the door and down the sidewalk as people are waiting to be processed in for Court. Please dress accordingly for the weather, rain or shine.
